I have enjoyed greatly writing my first book.
I always find it very satisfying and educational to edit my own
work. As William Faulkner said, "I don't know what I think until
I read what I said". My next book will explore social entrepreneurship,
a relatively new field of academic study and increasingly popular
in the general press and social media. The book is tentatively
titled Social Entrepreneurship-Lessons Learned from One
Laptop Per Child. The beginning of the book will define social
entrepreneurship and describe the four business models for such
organizations (yes–I do like business models). The second part
of the book will present the history of OLPC and the important
concepts to be derived for how to think about a successful social
entrepreneurship venture. The third part of the book will show
some of the difficulties to be overcome in a large, successful
social entrepreneurship venture. The last part of the book will
be a case study that shows how to transform a small social venture
into a world-class social entrepreneurship project.
